Bakes, Saltfish and Boomerang

Let me quickly explain a new found love of mine: Boomerang. If you didn’t know, now you know, Instagram rolled out some “accessories” to complement the main app last year and I am just getting hip to the game. Boomerang is the one I’ve been obsessing over lately and the other is called Layout, this app allows you to customize photos using different frames. You can easily find links to both applications while uploading a new post to Insta. The icons are located at the bottom right corner of your photo or video. I have both by default.

Anyway, the other day, G wanted to make Bakes for breakfast and I thought it would be cool to document for the blog, but I didn’t want to break out the giant camera and then have to go through the editing process.

I lowkey hate the editing process so the iPhone would have to suffice.

Things around here have been so chill lately that I don’t know what to do with myself. Most people would be ecstatic about being able to chill at home all day, everyday, but not me. I’m ready to get back to work. It is definitely weird seeing everyone going back to school on social media and not feeling obligated to do the same. It is the first year that I don’t have to register and be on campus for anything, unless I want to be, but no one wants to be the graduate hanging around campus with no classes or job related obligations. That chapter of my life is over and I am ready to move on from here. We have nothing else to gain from this area anymore. *cues inspirational sad song*

But things haven’t been all boredom and sadness. With all the extra time on my hands I have definitely taken up Crossword puzzles, mid-day naps, a slight addiction to the BuzzFeed YouTube channel (you’re welcome) and figuring out ways to continue my evolution as an individual and partner to G. It’s all about self-growth people! I’ve got to admit though, I’ve been slacking on my Yoga practices and meditation, but I’ve been cooking more, and that’s not necessarily a bad thing.

G, just the other night, made some BOMB homemade Alfredo, and I promise to get the recipe up here one day soon, unless he wants to keep it a secret. I promise it’s better than the store bought brands. Anyhow, the bakes and salt fish, a dish that I was introduced to when G and I first started dating. If you have ever had fried dough at an amusement park it is similar to that, but this one is stuffed with cheese or salt fish. Salt fish, is exactly what it sounds like, salted fish. In this case, it is salted cod but it can be any fish that is readily available in your area. The fish is boiled for desalination purposes and then stewed in vegetable oil with peppers, thyme, garlic, carrots and onion.

So damn delicious, I promise you.
